What We Believe

Core Beliefs

We are a gospel-centered church located in Hatton, Alabama. These basic beliefs represent what we hold to be essential elements of biblical teaching.

God

We believe that God is the Creator of all things, and that everything in heaven and on earth was made through Him and exists for His purpose. We believe that Jesus Christ is unchanging, remaining the same throughout all generations, a constant source of truth and hope. These truths affirm that God is both the eternal source of creation and the faithful Lord who never changes, guiding and sustaining us in every season of life.
Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 13:8

Jesus

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as our substitute upon the cross, was resurrected from the dead, ascended to Heaven before many witnesses, is seated at the right hand of the Father in power and is coming again.
1 Timothy 2:5-6, Philippians 2:5-11

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, infallible word of God to men.
Romans 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:16

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.
Genesis 5:1-2, Genesis 1:28

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Sin

We believe that all persons are born with a sinful nature and that God’s remedy for man’s ruin is entirely of grace through one’s transferral of trust to Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone. We believe that when a person has transferred his trust to Jesus Christ that he is born into God’s family and is forever secure in Jesus Christ. He is then called to live a holy life.
Ephesians 4:30, 1 Peter 1:15-16

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:18-32

The Return of Christ

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. We believe in the personal, visible return of our Lord Jesus, prior to the establishment of His kingdom. Those who are believers shall be forever in the presence of God, and those who have rejected Christ will be forever separated from the presence of God.
1 Thessalonians 3:13, Colossians 3:4
